After completing my 2nd year of triathlons I knew I needed help to get to the next level. I had success in my 2nd year without knowing what the heck I was doing. I qualified for the IronMan 70.3 World Championship but had no idea I was literally training myself into the ground.

That’s when I turned to Mike for guidance. I contacted Mike after racing in the IronMan 70.3 World Championship with 2 stress fractures. We talked about my goals and I became what he later called his 2 year project. Unable to train due to injuries, Mike simply told me to get healthy and then we’d start working. With only 6 months to train, Mike guided me to a sub-11 IronMan.

Mike’s knowledge of periodization, interval sessions, long training, and recovery prepared me for IronMan St George where the goal was to qualify for Kona. When I wanted to really dial in my race nutrition Mike connected me with a nutritional expert. Mike pushed me as much as I needed but also knew when to hold back. He took time to find out how I was feeling during training and had me prepared to qualify. With Mike literally at my side at IronMan St George, the 2 year project came to fruition and we qualified for Kona.

Mike has become more than just a coach. He has become a friend. He came to Kona with my family. He stayed with us in our Kona condo. He was kind enough to help with race day preparation and even helped with our kids.
